Faire Robin Fest
Time & Location
About the Event
A collaborative concert exploring the history and legends of Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
Fiona and Genna Gillespie, Lehigh Valley natives, bring a combination of Medieval, Renaissance, and traditional folk music from the British Isles and surrounding Celtic nations, for a celebration of one of history's most popular folk heroes.
Collaborating parties are newly emerging local & NYC based classical ensemble Bricolage Project, founded by Fiona and Chris Jackson, and the Gillespie Family Players, resident Celtic folk musicians in the Lehigh Valley spanning the last 25 years, hailing from bands Blackwater and Poor Man's Gambit.
Originally a Medieval mythological figure, Robin Hood rose to prominence, acquired green tights, and became associated with Britain's famed May Day festivals during the Tudor reign. To honor this connection, we follow the concert with a May Day fair in our backyard, at 233 N. Ott St (directly around the corner from campus).
The FAIRE will include drinks and food, more music, English folk dancing, archery, and a May Pole!
There is no fixed ticket price, but a free will donations will be accepted and appreciated to help cover the costs of musicians and festival activities!
